If you are not ready to approach strangers and ask them if they would like to hear the Good News about Jesus, then you can try passive evangelism. I don’t recommend passive evangelism alone for the long term, but it can be a good warmup to active evangelism. Passive evangelism is also a great way to supplement your active evangelism. For example, wearing Jesus apparel when you go out to have evangelistic conversations can only increase the chances that people will be reminded of Jesus.

If passive evangelism is all you feel comfortable doing right now, then pray that God will give you boldness when sharing the Gospel. God promises to give us boldness when proclaiming Jesus, and I can attest to His faithfulness in keeping this (and every) promise. The more I speak about Jesus, out loud, with others, the more boldness God gives me. The goal is to get to the point where you can freely proclaim Jesus wherever you go.

As you engage in any kind of evangelism, passive or active, pray that God will give you His boldness, especially in the face of persecution, which you will encounter. Also, dress yourself with the Spiritual armor described in Ephesians 6:10-18. Evangelism is spiritual war!

Here are a few Ideas for Passive Evangelism. Get creative and come up with more ideas on your own:

-Wear Jesus t-shirts and apparel.

-Post lawn signs in your yard. Use simple messages, such as “Jesus is Savior,” “Jesus is the Son of God,” “Jesus is Coming,” “Jesus Died for You,” “Jesus Lives,” “Call on Jesus.”  Feel free to come up with your own messages.

-Give tracts to cashiers, drive-through window attendants, hotel clerks, or leave tracts with tips for waitresses, cleaning crews, etc.

-Leave tracts in public places, such as restrooms or park tables.

-Hand out tracts with Halloween candy.

-Hand out tracts with candy as gifts for other holidays, such as Christmas and Easter.

-Post a YouTube video of your testimony or a simple gospel presentation.

-Mail tracts to your neighbors.

-Post the gospel message or gospel Bible verses, such as John 3:16, to social media.

-Include a gospel Bible verse with your email signature.

-Hand out free Bibles or Books of John or Luke.

-Hand out tracts in parking lots or crowded events. This is verging on active evangelism and might lead you to have evangelistic conversations, which would be active evangelism.

How to Receive Jesus—Right Now!

Admit there’s nothing you can do to forgive your own sins. Admit you need Jesus to save your soul, and believe. Believe that Jesus took all your sins upon Himself when He died on the cross. That’s all you have to do. Just believe that God loved you so much He sent His Son, Jesus, to Earth to die for your sins on the cross. Jesus was perfect, yet He took our sins. He bore our pain. He suffered Hell on the cross so that whoever believes in Him doesn’t have to suffer Hell for eternity. God raised Jesus to life three days later.

When you trust that Jesus is your Savior, God gives you a new heart. You’re born again on the inside, and the Holy Spirit seals you for the day of resurrection, the day on which you will receive a new and immortal body. You’re a new creation in Christ, inside out—body and soul.

As a new creation, you get to live with God for eternity. God is perfect and immortal, and He loves you so much that He made a way for you to become perfect and immortal too. Jesus is the Way. Jesus is the only Way! Trust in Jesus today!

I Believe Jesus is Savior. Now what?

Turn away from all sin, anger, unforgiveness, selfishness, pride, greed, the empty pleasures of this life, false religions, and self-made beliefs. Stop trusting in the systems of this world for your security and happiness. Trust God alone.

Talk to God continually in prayer.

Read the Bible daily.

Worship God with other believers.

Try joining a local church, and ask about baptism.

Go and tell others about Jesus.

Wait eagerly for Jesus’ appearing, at which time all who are in Christ will receive resurrected bodies.
