Last week I found mullein growing along the side of the road. The leaves and flowers have been used medicinally for coughs, earaches, asthma, gout, and more. Make tea, oil infusions, or even burn the leaves to release healing properties. As always, research before doing anything, and make certain to identify mullein accurately.

Adam was perfect, except for one sin, when God banished him from the garden. God is so holy that just one sin is cause for removal from God’s presence. Thankfully, God is also loving, so loving that He sent Jesus to pay for our sins and make a way back to Him. All we have to do is believe that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

A criminal (or any human) who trusts God to forgive his sins will stand forgiven at the judgment. A fine-upstanding citizen who trusts in his good deeds, and refuses to believe that only God pardons sin (through Christ’s death on the cross), will not (Luke 18:9-14, Ephesians 1:7). Just trust in God. It’s really that simple. Believe and be saved!

A common complaint I hear against Christians is that our pursuit of moral living makes us legalistic and self-righteous. Such accusations fail to acknowledge the difference between actual righteousness (living as God commands) and self-righteousness (living according to what humans think is good). Humans should never add their own rules to God’s commands, as the legalistic Pharisees did, but we should be ardent legalists when trying to keep God’s commands. It’s called pursuing holiness, and the Bible encourages Christians to pursue holiness.

Brothers and Sisters, if someone makes fun of you for holding to Biblical morals, then you’ve been persecuted for righteousness’ sake. Rejoice! It’s an honor to endure suffering for obeying Christ.
